Good Morning crafty friends.
I hope that where ever you are in the world that you and all of those you care about are staying safe and healthy.
I can’t quite believe it’s already August and time for another Tic Tac Toe blog post. This months grid was created by the lovely and talented Angie McKenzie.
If you are new to the Tic Tac Toe challenge, and want to find out more about it, the details are all here in the Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge blog. It’s a fabulous challenge to take part in and we love to see all of the beautiful projects that are entered each month. Follow the link above and you’ll see how easy it is to join in and see the projects added by talented crafters from across the world.
I chose to use the elements in the right hand vertical column this month – Blue, Book, Triangle.
The project I made was a labour of love and I have to warn you that the post is laden with lots of pictures.
Back at the start of the year I treated myself to a set of Album Making Dies from Helen Griffin. I had never made a memory book before and didn’t know where to start so I invested in the dies in the hope it would be easier and this is my first attempt at using them.
I was really pleased with the way it turned out but there are a few things I would do differently next time. I had been saving the paper pad I used for a special project, it came from ‘The Works’. Although the papers worked perfectly for all the matting and layering and for creating the pages for the album I have noticed that there is already a little bit of cracking on the spine so I will be more careful when choosing my cover papers next time.
As you can see the book is still in quite a basic state as many of the embellishments and journal additions will be customised to go with the photo’s and keepsakes I fill it with.
I made a variety of different mats to fit in the various pockets and flaps using the coordinating papers on one side and white mats on the back.
Each of the pages is also a pocket and has a large insert inside with space to add even more photo’s and mementos.
It’s pretty obvious where the ‘Book’ and ‘Blue’ elements from the grid are incorporated in my project but the triangle element may be a little harder to spot…
I think my favourite part of the Album is the ‘waterfall’ page which was so much easier to put together than I though it might be. There is a hidden magnet in this closure but there is a die within the set which makes a tab for the flap to go into if you prefer.
Thanks for taking the time to join me on my blog today. As ever I love to hear all of your comments and suggestions which you can email to me or add in the comments section below.
I can’t wait to see which elements you chose from the grid to make your project, it’s always great to go round the entries and reading your blog posts.
Where ever you are in the world please stay safe….wear a mask… keep your distance…wash your hands as often as you need to….do what ever it takes to keep healthy and well.
