Hello crafty friends, it’s Tic Tac Toe time once again .
Before I get started with this months grid and my October project I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined in last month using the grid I created for September. There were so many beautiful entries it made it really really difficult when it came time for me to choose a winning project. Congratulations to Danny whose stunning science themed Halloween Easel Card just pipped the others at the post.
This months grid has been created by the very lovely Beverly Cole and has lots of interesting elements for you to choose from.
With Halloween just around the corner plumping for ‘Black’ as one of my elements seemed like the logical choice but since the world often seems like a dark and scary place at the moment I went in the opposite direction completely and choose the elements from the bottom horizontal line ‘Ribbon’, ‘Window’ and ‘Glitter’ to create this ‘magical’ gift box.
It was inspired by one of the gifts I bought for my son’s unicorn loving partner who celebrates her birthday this month.
The simple lidded box was made using some retired Stampin’ Up! products which I love.
The box was made using whisper white card stock with the lid then stamped and heat embossed using silver embossing powder.
I created a aperture in the box lid using a square die and then made a glittery panel to fill it. The window panel was made by sandwiching ultra fine glitter between two pieces of window sheet which was sealed together using red liner tape.
To finish the lid I used this beautiful glittery ribbon to form a frame around the window. The final touch was to add a little extra sparkle by adding a few gems in the corners and around the sides of the box lid.
When I was finished I thought the inside of the box looked a little naked so I added some gorgeous glitter card stock which coordinated with the colour of the tin which finished it off nicely.
